Practicum / Preceptorship
A practicum of preceptorship is required for degree completion.
The MPH Practicum or DrPH Preceptorship provides essential real-world experience and is required for degree completion.
Course: PUBH 7790/9790
Practicums and preceptorships are completed for academic credit.
Students must be in their final semester of the MPH or DrPH program and have completed all major core courses.
Informational Meetings
It is required that you attend at least one practicum/preceptorship meeting. These meetings are held every Fall and Spring semester; you should attend a meeting two semesters before you plan to complete your practicum or preceptorship.

The provides a forum for students to have input into the management and leadership postures of the JPHCOPH.
Members are selected by the Dean based on recommendations of faculty, staff, and students.
Public Health Student Association
(Undergraduate & Graduate Students)
The Public Health Student Association (PHSA) received recognition as an 鈥渙fficial student organization鈥 from the Dean of Students at 精东 in 2007. The purpose of the PHSA is to:
- (a) promote public health interests among students at 精东
- (b) To build and sustain a strong network of graduates of the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health,
- (c) To foster strong student-faculty relationships for promoting academics, and
- (d) To engage with the surrounding community through volunteering and provision of services.
The PHSA is open to all students at 精东 who have an interest in the field of public health. Meetings are held monthly.
Maternal and Child Health Interest Group

Do you have a passion to improve health outcomes for women and children? Collaborating on research projects on MCH issues? Participating in community engagement/service and advocating for maternal and child health issues locally, regionally, statewide or internationally? Interest in joining the maternal and child health public health workforce? If so, consider becoming involved in the JPCHOPH Maternal and Child Health Interest Group (MCHIG)!
Mission:
The MCHIG was created for students and faculty to have a space to discuss MCH related topics and issues, participate in MCH research activities and get involved with community engagement/education and service. Any Georgia Southern undergraduate or graduate student with an interest in MCH is welcome to join!
Delta Omega

In October 2011, JPHCOPH received an official charter to establish the Gamma Theta Chapter of Delta Omega. Founded in 1924, Delta Omega is a national honor society existing to encourage research and scholarship among graduate students of public health and to recognize attainment and achievement in the field of public health.
The Gamma Theta chapter induction of graduating students, faculty, alumni and honorary members is based on high academic standards and outstanding performance in scholarship, teaching, research and community service.
